Ethan's been working hard at soccer.
Their team played at the Crossroad Cup Tournament in Alexandria on March 9th.
They are a U10 team, which means all their players are at least 8, but younger than 10.
Apparently this tournament did not have a bracket for just U10 teams,
only a U12 bracket, so we played U11 and U12 teams.
Warming up.
The team in white is also from Moss Bluff.
They are the U11 Gunners.
I don't remember where the boys in orange are from, maybe Alexandria,
but they were called Dynamo.
Watching all the action from the sidelines. They lost both games. It was really windy out there and Ethan said that the ball was hard to get to because the wind was blowing it around the field.
Last week, the coaches put together a family night so parents could see what it is like to be on the field and to see how hard they work at practice. Savannah and I went and had a great time.
I think my pants were about to fall off in this picture!
The next weekend, on the 16th of March, the coaches arranged for our boys to play in two friendly games on our brand new soccer fields here in Moss Bluff. One between the Sulphur Soccer Club and another between the DeRidder U10 team. Ethan could not play because he was already registered for the Dad & Me Campout at Camp Edgewood. At that game, the team decided to make the Llama their official mascot.
Yesterday, the boys went to DeRidder to play the Beauregard Soccer Club again. Ethan rode with Landon because neither Allen nor I could go. Ethan said he had a lot of fun. The coaches got the kids a picnic box from the local deli. They ate between the two games. They won the first game and lost the second.
After the two scheduled friendly games, they arranged to have a parent/kid game. Landon's mom could not stay for the parent game, but I saw the pictures online and it looked like everyone had a great time. Sure wish we could have been there. Here they are with the DeRidder team, showing off their new llama sign. Ethan is the blonde just to the left of the boy squatting down in the red and black.
They have one more soccer tournament in April in Shreveport.
