Telling Fortunes

We like Chinese Food and when we let the kids pick a place to eat, they like to go to the Panda Buffet.  I also go there with my Visiting Teaching friends.  I was clearing out my wallet today and came across a pile of fortune cookie fortunes that I was saving for some reason, which is not necessarily clear to me, except that the kids ask me to save theirs.  I thought I'd write them down before tossing them.

*A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

*Big things coming in future.  Only matter of time.

*Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.

*Believe in yourself and you will succeed.

*May the rainbow always touch your shoulder.

*Keep on charging the enemy so long as there is life.

*A different world cannot be built by indifferent people.

*Lotus blossoms smell better when you stop.

*Any impatience you show will only create more stress.

*Allow disruptions to deepen your concentration.

*Look forward to great fortune and a new lease on life!

*Inspiration within is waiting for you.  It's time to go deep.

*Go take a rest; you deserve it.

*Education and intelligence aren't the same thing!

*I do and I understand.

Braggin' On My Baby

The school year is winding down and the kids are ready for summer.  But not before some pretty big end of the year junk that takes up every evening from now until June.  The kids have all had some pretty exciting things going on!

~  Savannah was voted to Student Council at the high school.  There were 20 spots and the kids voted for half and the teachers voted for the other half.  (I confess, high school and Savannah just do not belong in the same sentence.  Kinda like Jackson and Kindergarten.)

~  Ethan met his AR goal all year long and got to spend some pretty pennies at the AR store.

~  Savannah was voted "Most Courteous" in the 8th grade Superlatives.  She's a stud.

~  Tristan scored a 94 on his English II End of Course (EOC) test.  He also scored a 95 on his Biology EOC and a 96 on his Geometry EOC.

~  Tuesday was Jackson's last day of preschool.  His teachers said he is so sweet and well behaved.  He was one of their best students ever.

~  Savannah passed her French I test, allowing her the opportunity to test out of French II.  The French II test is next Monday.  If she passes that test, she does not have to take any Foreign Language in high school. She gets out of having the dreaded Mrs. Z.  Lucky duck.

~  Savannah also got a 98 on her EOC for Algerbra I.  This, plus her grade in French I and her grade in her Family Consumer Science class, gives her three high school credits.  She's off to a great start!

~  Tristan made drum major!  We are all super excited about it!

~  Ethan has been invited to the "All O's all Year" Pizza Party for having awesome behavior all school year.  He also gets to have free dress day.

~  Savannah's Social Studies teacher wrote in her yearbook that she was "what teachers refer to as the 'Perfect Student.' "  Her Home-Ec teacher wrote, "I have loved everyday with you.  You're the best kind of student--I wish I could clone you, except I don't believe in cloning. =)"   Told ya! She's a stud!

~  Tristan was named Most Outstanding Student for Concert Band at his Spring Concert.

They've all had such a great year!  Proud of all my kids and the hard work they put into school and into being great people!!

My Last Day Out

Yesterday was Holden and Jackson's last day of Mother's Day Out.

Holden's class had dress up days all this month.
They had hat day, crazy sock day, and sports day.

His teachers posted some pictures on Facebook of their
Super Hero Day and Pajama Day.

Playing on the playground across the street.
Holden has always loved to swing!

Super Hero Day.
Holden was wearing Ethan's Spider Man pajama bottoms.

Outside painting.
Holden is on the very far right.

These pictures were from the last day of school.
It was pajama day.

Ms. Sarah and Ms. Brittany have been great teachers.
Holden has had them for two years now.

Next year, he moves up to the four-year old class,
and will have Ms. Arlene and Ms. Yolanda,
who Jackson had this year.

Blame it on the FLUtes

My post to Facebook after Tristan's doctor appointment on Wednesday morning and all the comments that followed.  The whole absurdity of the situation makes me laugh!  Tristan is starting to feel better.  He's been in his bed since Tuesday night.  Today he came out for a bit to watch a movie with the little boys.  His fever has come down for the first time.  All his plans for the weekend are on hold and we are hoping he can go to school on Monday for the Drum Major clinic.  Crossing my fingers!  And, of course, hoping everyone else who is sick gets better really soon too.  What a way to end the year!  Or maybe that was the plan all along, to get out of the last three weeks of school.  Those darn band kids!!

Just thought I should let y'all know that my son, as well as three other band kids, have tested positive for Type B Flu. They were all on bus #3 for the trip to Dallas. Hope no one else comes down with it, but be on the look out for flu symptoms! It's easier to deal with if it's caught early.
