Team England

Ethan has been playing in an indoor soccer league in Beaumont on a 7v7 team.
They started in January and played through mid February.  He was on the U10 England team.

The England team was made up of  Ethan, Landon, Braiden, Daniel, Maddy, Taylor, Dallas, Thomas, and two other girls from Beaumont to round out the roster of ten.  There were no coaches on the sidelines, just a time keeper who also traded the kids out as needed.  The kids coached themselves.

Another team was put together from his STEEL team and played in the U11 league.
They were Nigeria.  Sometimes the U11 team needed players and Ethan would play in their games too.

Sometimes other teams needed players and he would play for them too.
Sometimes the teams he was playing for actually beat the U11 Nigeria team.

Below are some pictures taken by me and other moms during the league play.
Mostly Allen went with Ethan to the games because I was traveling with the high school wrestling team.
I was able to go to one game.  That day, Ethan scored a goal and his team won!
I was so happy to be there to see it.

Playing Team Belgium.

Busting his tail down the field!  Go, E-Dog!!

Going up against Taylor, a girl from his own STEEL team.

And against Josh, also a STEEL player.

Ethan is getting much more confident in his soccer skills.
He is really improving and doing so well.

He is constantly impressing his coaches with his love of the game and his desire to learn.

Cemetery. I Mean, Seminary.

For Valentine's Day, Sister Sorensen decided to have the kids do something nice for each other.

The girls made candies for the boys and "heart attacked" their chairs.

The boys made pancakes for the girls.

Little BFF's

My neighbor called me this morning to make sure we had not moved.
It had been a long time since we had seen or talked to each other.

She said that Dylan was dying to see Jackson and Holden and asked if they could come over to play.

I took them over at 10:00 in the morning and started working around the house.
Around noon or so I laid down to take a nap and did not wake up until after 3:30.  The boys were still not home.  They came home later, after 4:00 PM.  I could not believe that she kept them for so long.
She said that they played so well together, all day long, while she cleaned her house.

She posted this picture on Facebook of them watching a movie.
Sweet boys!

JA Biztown

Ethan's class has been studying all month about working a job and handling a personal and family budget.  They have even learned how to write checks.  They filled out job applications and learned interviewing skills, all in preparation for a visit to JA Biztown in Houston.

JA Biztown is an interactive learning center that puts all these skills to practice.  All kids were to apply for jobs and come dressed for the job they were given.  They each would work in their part of town and get a paycheck for their day's work.  They could then go to bank and spend their money on lunch, snacks, and in the town's other shops.

Ethan applied for the job of town mayor and really wanted to be picked.  He was chosen as Town Treasurer instead because of his interest and talent in math.

Ethan had an awesome time at JA Biztown yesterday working as the town's treasurer. He had a busy day writing up and signing all the purchase orders for the day's activities.

While they were gone, I got this message from a chaperone, "Just wanted you to know Ethan is one of my favorite kids! In comparison to the others that sat in seats near mine on the bus trip to Houston, you've done something right with him that others have missed."

Made my day pretty awesome too!
