Fire Trucks

My friend, Jen, watched Holden today while I drove a group of wrestlers to a tournament.

They took a tour of the Fire Department on Joe Miller Road.

It was scheduled for last week, but we cancelled the trip because of the icy conditions,
so I am really glad he got to go today.  He loved sitting in the big trucks.

100 Days of School

Today, Jackson is celebrating the 100th Day of School.

(It was actually on Monday, but because of all our winter weather and snow days,
they are celebrating today.)

He was encouraged to wear a t-shirt with 100 things attached to it.

We chose to go with safety pins, instead of say, buttons.  Ethan saved the day by putting all the pins on Jackson's shirt for me because I was running out of time to do it with everything else I had going on.
He was so excited to help and I think the shirt turned out awesome!
Of course, Jackson is a cutie and looks awesome all the time anyway!

Happy Hundred Day!

Just Keep Swimming

I signed Jackson and Holden up for swim lessons at Dynamic Dimensions.

For Christmas they each got lessons, a pair of jammers, goggles, and a swim cap,
plus a Speedo swim bag for all their gear!  They were so excited!!

Their teacher is Tiffany and she is great!

After only two lessons, the pool's heater went out and they cancelled that week's lesson.
Then the next week, I got a call saying that classes were cancelled until March.

I sure hope the boys can get back to their lessons soon.  They loved learning how to swim!!
Besides, they looked so cute in their little jammers!

Accesorizing is Key

Holden can't decide on which one goes best with his pj's.
Asking for his sister's stylish opinion.

Louisiana Snow

School has been cancelled.

Snow is expected.

We are thrilled!

I have to admit that I LOVE when an unexpected day off school comes along, like tomorrow's snow day.

Everything has been cancelled and we have absolutely nothing to do tomorrow.

No alarms to be set.

No place to be and nothing to do.

It is the best thing ever.

Better than birthdays, anniversaries, and even holidays.

It feels like a gift designed just for me.

And no one will be praying harder for snow that the Andrews family!

An All Leaguer

On January 4, we found out that our favorite SHHS swimmer was named to the SWLA All League Swim Team.
Tonight is the banquet in Lafayette.  He and Allen are going.

The league decided to pick an All-League Team for the first time.
They chose swimmers based on the points they earned during league meets this season.
Tristan was named along with three other male swimmers from the SHHS Swim Team.

Only 34 boys and 32 girls were named to the team for the entire district covering Southwest Louisiana.

Awesome job this year, Tristan!!

Rayne Invitational

Tristan placed fourth today at the wrestling tournament at Rayne High School.

He made it to the 3rd place match but had to forfeit due to the five match rule, only allowing him to wrestle five times during a tournament. He lost his first match but battled back to win four more and 4th place overall after a totally exciting and nerve wracking over time in his final match. So excited!!

Tristan was trying to get down to the 120 weight class.  He was a little bit over and had to run before weigh in for almost an hour.  He was tired for his first match, which he lost.  The picture above shows his pin.  He lost to a boy from Basile.  He actually wrestled the same boy for a place in the third place match.  Those pictures are below, but show his last match of the day.  They just loaded in the wrong order and there are too many to move.  This is the over-time match that was so crazy and exciting!!

Tristan's coaches said that they thought Tristan could have and should have beat this boy in their first match, but Tristan was too tired from running.  Tristan did not pin him, but won by points in over-time.

Tristan's second match of the day which he won by pin.
I was so nervous, but he did great!  He wrestled a boy from East Ascension High School.

The third match was against a boy from Acadiana High School.
He won by pin.

 Getting tired, but staying strong!

I think this was actually Tristan's second match, which he won by pin fairly easily and quickly.
I think this guy is from Comeaux High School in Lafayette.

The blue guy was Tristan's third match.

Tristan did so well today!  I am so happy for him!!

Pizza Pie

It has been decided that we will be having pizza for dinner tonight.

Ethan has been studying fractions in math this week and it has apparently given him a huge craving for pizza!

Teurlings Invitational

Today was the Teurlings Catholic Invitational in Lafayette.

Tristan did really well.  He won two and lost two in the 126 weight class.

Savannah is the team manager/statistician.  She enjoys it.

Bacon Bits

Jackson played recreational soccer for the Moss Bluff Youth Soccer League last year.
He hated it.  So when he asked to play again this year, I was not very interested in signing him up again to watch him walk around, complain about sweating, and beg to quit playing during a game.

The Moss Bluff Soccer Club that Ethan plays with decided to add a U6 team called the Bacon Bits.
They don't play games against other teams, but instead learn the basics of the game through
simple exercises and age appropriate games.  I decided to sign Jackson up and he loves it!

Most of the kids on the team are siblings of Ethan's team mates.  Here are some of them during one of Ethan's practice.  Elaina, Grace, Holden, Jackson, and his bestie, Kallie.

Bacon Bits are the best!!!

Art

For Christmas, Jackson and Holden got an art easel, one side is dry erase and the other is a chalk board.

Jackson has been all over the easel ever since and is creating some very nice art work.

This is a picture of Jackson's two favorite ladies.  Kallie, his best friend, is on the left,
and Madame Elaine, his favorite French teacher on the right.  They both have "bumpy" hair.

And this piece, which is my favorite!!  No bumpy hair for me!

I'm jealous.

New Years Eve Dance

Savannah, ready for the Stake's Youth Royal Ball tonight.

Maybe she'll find herself a Prince sometime before the clock strikes twelve.

Savannah at the dance with her friends Paige and Lindsey.

She had fun, but found no Prince Charming.  She declares that boys have cooties!
